Welcome to Our Blog

This post marks the beginning of something new for us, and we’re excited to share it with you. As we move forward, our goal is to publish a blog post at least once a month, highlighting stories, ideas, and topics connected to life at the Iron Trail Motors Event Center.

Along the way, we’ll be inviting staff members from the Event Center to join in by sharing their perspectives and talking about the topics that matter most to them — from fitness and community to events, behind-the-scenes insights, and everything in between. We hope this blog becomes a place to reflect, connect, and celebrate the people and experiences that make Iron Trail Motors Event Center such a special part of our community.

Thanks for being here as we get started.

Warm Cups. Warm Community.

There’s a certain kind of magic that lives in shared spaces.

Every day at our event center, we see it unfold quietly and organically: neighbors walking side by side, friends catching up after too much time apart, moms taking a rare moment just for themselves, and familiar faces exchanging stories that have been told a hundred times—but are still worth hearing again.

You hear laughter echo in the Mezzanine. You see heads nodding in understanding. You feel the weight of the day soften with each lap around the floor.

For many, this space isn’t just about walking.

It’s about connection.

It reminds us of a simpler kind of gathering—like sitting at a kitchen table while coffee brews, or watching familiar faces drift in and out of a local church or a friend’s home. No agenda. No pressure. Just people being people, together.

That feeling is what inspired Warm Cups. Warm Community.

A Small Gesture, A Big Welcome

On the first Wednesday of every month, we invite our walkers and community members to enjoy complimentary coffee—no strings attached. It’s our way of saying: you’re welcome here. Whether you stay for a quick cup before heading out the door or linger a little longer to visit with someone new, we hope it adds warmth to your day in more ways than one.

Because sometimes, a cup of coffee isn’t just a drink.

It’s an invitation.

It’s a pause.

It’s a chance to breathe, to laugh, to share—or simply to sit in comfortable silence.

More Than a Building

Our event center is proud to be a place where:

  • Stress can be walked off
  • Conversations happen naturally
  • Friendships form without effort
  • Community shows up exactly as it is

We believe public spaces matter—not just for what happens in them, but for how they make people feel. Safe. Seen. Included.

Join Us

So on the first Wednesday of the month, come walk with us.

Come grab a warm cup.

Come reconnect—with neighbors, with friends, or maybe just with yourself.

Because community doesn’t have to be complicated.

Sometimes, it starts with open doors, steady footsteps, and a warm cup of coffee.

Warm Cups. Warm Community.   We’re glad you’re here. ☕

01/26/2026  – Walk a Mile for Dan: Honoring Daniel “Dan” Kotnik

Daniel “Dan” Kotnik was a longtime member of our walking track community and a familiar, friendly presence at the Iron Trail Motors Event Center. Dan loved this building, the simple routine of walking, and the camaraderie of the people he met along the way.

To honor Dan’s memory, we invite our community to come together for a meaningful tribute:  Walk a Mile for Dan

Whether you’re a regular walker or stopping in for the first time, this is a chance to move with purpose and celebrate a life that touched so many.

Our indoor track measures 7 laps per mile, and we’ve set a collective goal:

✅ 700 laps = 100 miles

Inside the Event Center, you’ll find 700 boxes representing 700 laps. Here’s how you can participate:

  • Walk a lap

  • Check a box

  • Walk more if you wish

  • Check more boxes

Every lap counts. Every box checked brings us closer.

This is more than just a fitness goal. It’s a community effort rooted in remembrance, kindness, and connection — the same things Dan brought with him each time he walked through these doors.

Thank you for helping us honor Dan in a way that feels true to who he was: one lap at a time, surrounded by community.

01/05/2026 – Looking Ahead to My 2026 Fitness Goals

By Britt S.

As 2026 approaches, I’ve been doing what many of us do at the start of a new year — reflecting on my goals for the year.  More importantly, my health goals.  And Ive been realizing there’s room for improvement. Like a lot of people, I want to move more, feel stronger, and be more consistent with my workouts. The challenge isn’t just setting goals, though — it’s finding a place that makes it realistic to stick with them.

That’s what got me thinking about what’s available right here at the Iron Trail Motors Event Center.

The Fitness Center at Iron Trail Motors Event Center offers a setup that works for a wide range of goals — including mine. Whether the focus is improving endurance, building strength, or simply getting back into a routine, the facility has a variety of cardio machines, strength equipment, and open workout space to support it. It’s the kind of place where you don’t have to be an expert or a seasoned athlete to feel comfortable starting.

One of the biggest motivators for me is knowing I don’t have to overthink my workouts. I can walk in, choose what feels right that day, and keep moving forward — even on days when motivation is low.

One fitness goal I know I need to prioritize in 2026 is consistency, and that’s where the indoor walking track really stands out.    When the weather doesn’t cooperate — which happens often in northern Minnesota — having a warm, indoor space to walk makes staying active much more realistic. It’s perfect for hitting daily step goals, warming up, or simply clearing your head while getting some movement in.

Another thing that stood out to me while thinking about the Iron Trail Motors Fitness Center is the atmosphere. The friendly staff and familiar faces create a welcoming environment that makes showing up feel easier. You’ll see community members of all ages working toward their own goals, along with parents of hockey players making good use of practice time by squeezing in a workout or a few laps on the track.

Seeing others make fitness part of their routine — even during busy days — is a reminder that progress doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful.

As I look ahead to 2026, I’m realizing that reaching my fitness goals isn’t about doing everything at once. It’s about choosing spaces and routines that make healthy habits easier to maintain. With its fitness center, indoor walking track, and supportive community, Iron Trail Motors Event Center offers a practical place to start — and to keep going.

Sometimes the first step toward a better year is simply showing up.
